Mosaic Bathroom Tiles

Mosaics have enjoyed a recent return to popularity and can be used to enhance many different styles of bathrooms. They can be laid in an overall plain color scheme or with intricate pattern features. Some mosaic tiles are hand made which creates an interesting and varied look. Mosaics can be glazed or unglazed and made from porcelain, ceramic, glass or natural stone. Mosaic Tiles consist of small pieces of stone or glass or ceramic which can be set into a base to create interesting patterns and designs.

Shape:
Mosaics are tiles that are glazed or unglazed, that measure 2 inches square or less, although they don’t necessarily have to be square. Some of them, in fact, are hexagonal in shape and others are rectangles. It doesn’t matter what the tiles are made of, however most mosaics are made from porcelain, and most of them are left unglazed.

Availability:
Normally mosaic tiles are categorized as glass mosaics and Byzantine mosaics. These Glass mosaics are made with precious materials and sophisticated working so the final results are a mix of fabulous shades of colors. These glass mosaics are produced in three series. They are given below,

  • Gold series: With iridescent effect created from precious metal.
  • Spectrum series: Translucent.
  • Peony series: With solid colors and marble effect.

Properties:
Glass mosaics are the actual version of the old traditional Byzantine mosaics. They are made in glass with durable characteristics so they are suitable for wall and floor use. These tiles are shiny smooth on the front side and textured on the back for better adhesive grip. The edges are miter beveled for clean right angle corners. The tiles are waterproof, useable indoors or outdoors and are easily cut with nippers.

Size:
These mosaics are in 20×20 mm (3/4″ x 3/4″) and they are mounted on 327mm x 327 mm sheets (13″ x 13″).
